Mission: To support Christ’s mission in the local, state, and national commu-nities. Matthew 25:35…”for I was hungry and you gave me food, was thisty and you gave me drink. I was a stranger and you welcomed me. I was naked and you clothed me. I was sick and you visited me. I was in prison and you came to me.” :40…”truly I say to you, as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me.”
St. John‘s Outreach Committee met on Sunday, January 6th. The meeting was opened with a reading and prayer. Bobbi Hovren has been elected as the new Outreach Committee Treasurer. Thank you, Bobbi! As you know, St. John‘s collects food for the ECHO food shelf. On November 30, 2007, we donated a basket contain-ing 106 pounds of food and 40 pounds of soap. Also, on December 19, 2007, we donated a basket containing 91 pounds of food, toiletries, and laundry soap. Thank you to all who donated! Remember your donations to the Mitten Tree? We received a receipt from the Salvation Army of $500 for the 70 pieces of merchandise, some of which were in sets. It feels so good to know that our donations make a difference! Do not throw away your unwanted shoe-boxes! During the year we will be col-lecting more standard-sized shoeboxes to replenish the boxes we used for do-nating to Samaritan‘s Purse. March is Food Share Month. Please start planning to donate food, egg cartons, and toilet paper. The next meeting of the Outreach Com-mittee will be held on Sunday, Feb 3rd, 2008. Participation in this committee is open to all members of St. John‘s. Join us in caring for the needs of others.
