Well, I guess you’re wondering what you might get into now that the Fall season has begun. The kids are in school, vacation is over, perhaps your work load at the office is not too demanding: anyway, you’re finding yourself with a lot of time on your hands and you need something to do or you’ll go crazy with boredom. Relax, help is at hand…
From time to time St. John’s is responsible for providing worship to the residents of our area nursing homes. In the past, Fr. Paul has done these mostly on his own and now he’d like to share the joy. And it is such a wonderful joy to be able to share God’s Word and to sing and pray with our elderly neighbors!
The Fall (St. Paul) Teens Encounter Christ weekend is scheduled for 16-18 November. TEC is a great builder of youth community in congregations––teens return to their parishes invigorated and enthusiastic. For those youth who wish to be confirmed this coming year, TEC is a requisite part of our confirmation program. The weekend is for youth 9-12 grades and is being held at St. John’s Parish in St. Paul. If you’d like to know more, to volunteer, or to offer support, please call or email Paul at 388.5150 or paulplus@hickorytech.net.

St. Barnabas was knows as the “encourager” or “son of consolation”. In that same spirit some in our congregation have decided to write and send anonymous letters of encouragement to those in our community. The cards will be signed “St. Barnabas”. The group is completely anonymous. If you would enjoy writing and sending cards to those who may need a little boost please contact our rector, Paul Rider.

October 2 at the Wine Café. Topic? Liberalism & Secularism: The Same Thing?
A steward is the manager of the affairs of GOD on earth. When God gives us life, we don’t know how much time we have to use that life. But whatever time we have is a Gift from GOD, and we must use it wisely in every activity throughout the day at home, work or church. Each of us at St. John’s can share in God’s plan in our own way. If we all use our talents wisely, we will be better able to use them and will develop others—but if we don’t, we may lose even those talents we do have. Peace, Jerry
